Matzin Estate Late Harvest Zinfandel, Lodi, 2005, 375ml

Matzin Estate Late Harvest Zinfandel, Lodi, 2005, 375ml

Dessert wine is sort of like champagne - it's not something to uncork every night with dinner. Most people generally save it for special occasions. Or you wait until you are really bored, there's nothing on TV, and I decide it's time to drink some wine by the fire.  Now that is living!

Our Matzin Late Harvest Zinfandel is also sourced from our family's 66 year old vineyard.  We pick it three to four weeks after our regular Zinfandel harvest so the berries can continue to ripen and slighly dehydrate.  Then we carefully ferment the wine, leaving about five percent residual sugar.  This creates a full-flavored Late Harvest Matzin that is seductively sweet without being cloying or too sweet.
